My sister stopped by the Hero booth at GenCon on Saturday and picked me up my very own copy of Pulp Hero in hardcover. I would've loved to have had it signed by Steve, but I guess he was in a game or something at the time.
I decided to do the opposite of what I usually do with these books, which is normally to just flip around, look at artwork, look at maps, look at weapons and equipment charts, and whatever, and instead start right from the intro and just read straight through.
So far, I'm enchanted. I'm enthralled. I want to run this game so badly it hurts. I will get to eventually, I'm sure. Right now I've just started a rip-roaring Terran Empires SH campaign that's well won the hearts and minds of its three hearty players, and I will heed Abraham Lincoln's advice not to switch horses midstream.
But seriously, Steve Long, if you're reading this, you really broke the mold with this work. College courses could be taught on the pulp genre using Pulp Hero as the textbook. Bravo. I can't wait to see the supplements to this sourcebook as they arrive.

Re: My hardcover Pulp Hero arrived today!
Tue, August 30, 2005 - 7:05 PMYou know, not just college courses, either... this book should be on the shelves of Hollywood directors and scriptwriters.
I don't want to sound too effusive, but I've been a fan of the pulp genre since I was a teenager, and to see such a guide to the genre put together and crafted so lovingly just blows me away. -
