Hero Games has been in the RPG industry since it first released Champions: The Superpowered Roleplaying Game in the early 80's. Since then the rules have been through many editions, with Hero System 5th Edition being published in April of 2002 and a revised edition being released in December of 2004.
Although the RPG industry is dominated mostly by WotC (Dungeons and Dragons) and Collectible Card Games (Magic, etc...), Hero Games continues to put out quality gaming books and manages to maintain its business. There is definite room for growth, and in order to make that happen Hero gamers need to get out to their local game store or convention and teach people about the game. Not only does this increase our sales but in also increases the number of Hero gamers out there... and that's always a good thing.
I work for Hero Games primarily as the webmaster but I also handle retail order fulfilment, customer support as well as other office and writing duties. I love this company and love my coworkers who are all really good people. As a team we put out the best products possible so that gamers from all over can enjoy playing the Hero System.

Re: Hero Games - A Local SF RPG Company
Fri, July 29, 2005 - 1:56 PMHey, on the herogames.com site, on the page at herogames.com/Products/heroretailers.htm , I think some jump-links to the states would be helpful, like a row across the top that has the two-letter code for each state, alphabetically, maybe like this:
AL | AK | AZ | AR | CA | CO | CT ... and so on.
Or maybe like this:
[AL] [AK] [AZ] [AR] [CA] ... and so on.
I was on vacation a few weeks ago and I kept going to the site and had to scroll ever-so-slowly and carefully so as not to pass North Carolina on the list. I'd zip right past it and I'd be like, curses!
Also, an <HR> tag before each state name would make a good visual cue, or perhaps each state's name in yellow instead of white. -

Re: Hero Games - A Local SF RPG Company
Fri, July 29, 2005 - 2:03 PMI've been thinking about implementing something like that. It's a good idea. -

Re: Hero Games - A Local SF RPG Company
Fri, July 29, 2005 - 7:56 PMI just looked at the site... that's way better!
Now if I need to find a Hero retailer in Indiana, I just click on IN and POP there I am!

Re: Hero Games - A Local SF RPG Company
Sat, July 30, 2005 - 11:48 AMHey, on the Brick & Mortar list for New York, I have one addition to suggest:
The Jester's Cap
3571 Walden Ave
Lancaster, NY 14086
(716) 681-5545
www.jesterscapgames.com
I've been to The Jester's Cap and they do sell current Hero System books.
Also, Queen City Bookstore in Buffalo, NY, no longer carries gaming stuff of any kind. They only sell cards, comic books, and magazines. I physically went into that store about a month ago (it's between Just Pizza and the Mobil Station right where the nasty construction starts on Main Street near the University at Buffalo) and asked the guy behind the counter where the gaming stuff is, and he said, "We don't carry any of that stuff anymore."
Hey, this web script might save you some time keeping your dealer list current... and the basic version of it is free:
www.yourphppro.com/version/...ge_4.html
It's called "PHP Dealer Locator," and it does that stuff like "type in your ZIP code to see dealers within 50 miles" and so on. Could be hot!

Sun, November 6, 2005 - 12:36 PMYeah, I've been playing since '82? 1st edition Chanmpions. It's the best and now here in San Francisco I'm going to start up a new group for Champions, Fantasy hero, Pulp hero, Horror Hero, etc. Gotta love it.
